What’s the Future for SmartThings in the UK?
aside from purchasing direct from Samsung, the SmartThings system has been solely offered from Currys in the UK. Stock availability has been frustratingly poor at times, particularly during special offer periods and in spite of promises from ST personnel on their forums, nothing much has changed.
Today that special offer ends as SmartThings becomes availabe from Amazon UK. However, many products have gone directly to ‘Temporarily out of stock’.
There seems to be a great deal of chatter in the wise house world doubting the long term commitment of SmartThings to the UK market. aside from the recent addition of the Amazon Echo, the UK supported hardware listing has seldom if ever been updated.
We went into into a dialogue with Samsung’s pr for a quote on their UK policy moving forward, however in the end they declined to comment.
We like SmartThings as well as hope the rumours aren’t true, however Samsung, it’s time for an unambiguous statement on your commitment to the UK. let us all get on as well as grow our systems or relocation on to something else.
